About The Moderator

Charles Demers is a comedian, author, & voice actor based in Vancouver. One of Canada's top stand-up comedians, he is also a regular performer on CBC radio’s The Debaters. He is one of the stars of two Emmy-winning Netflix animated series, Beat Bugs (based on the immortal music of The Beatles), and The Last Kids on Earth. His iTunes Canada #1-selling stand-up album Fatherland, from 604 Records, was nominated for the 2018 Juno Award for Best Comedy Album. He is the author of the novel The Prescription Errors, as well as of the bestselling essay collections Vancouver Special (a finalist for the Hubert Evans BC Bookprize for Non-fiction) and The Horrors. He is the co-author, with Canada’s first Poet Laureate George Bowering, of The Dad Dialogues, a collection of epistolary non-fiction on fatherhood. His bestselling comedic crime novel, Property Values, has been optioned for development as a feature film by Pioneer Pictures of Los Angeles, with a screenplay co-written by Demers, and his most recent mystery novel, Primary Obsessions, debuted on the BC Bestseller List and was a finalist for the 2021 Bill Duthie Booksellers' Choice Award. His new book is the sequel to that work, also featuring the amateur sleuth Dr. Annick Boudreau: Noonday Dark.

About The Readers

S.C. Lalli is the author of ARE YOU SARA?, a national bestseller and one of NPR and Apple’s Best Books of 2022. An author of Punjabi and Bengali heritage, she also writes romance and women’s fiction novels under her full name Sonya Lalli. She studied law in her hometown of Saskatoon, Canada, and at Columbia University in New York. Sonya has worked in law, legal journalism and book publishing. She lives in Vancouver with her husband and their mini golden doodle, Joey.

Sam Wiebe is the author of the Wakeland series, one of the most acclaimed and authentic detective series in Canada. His latest is Sunset and Jericho.
